New York Yankees

To be a Hall of Famer is one thing but to be named a Sports Legend in the State of Missouri is another. I recently received an invitation to travel to Springfield, Missouri to attend the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Banquet to witness former St. Louis Cardinal Rightfielder/Third Baseman and current Cardinal Broadcaster Mike Shannon be named the 26th Missouri Sports Legend for the Missouri Sports H

When I heard about two explosions in Boston during the Boston Marathon Monday afternoon, it brought back flashbacks of 9-11 all over again. Innocent people killed and maimed for no reason at all. It also brought out the anger in me in that I wanted this person (or these persons) to suffer for it, as well. God would not have been proud of me for what I was thinking.

If you ever get the chance to go to Spring Training, whether it be the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Cubs, or any other Major League Baseball team, you should make the trip. I just returned from my second Spring Training venture in 3 years through Destination Travel and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

We always hear about a boy becoming a man but we hardly ever hear about a man becoming a boy again. Such is the case for me this week as I turn into a kid again by heading to Florida. It's spring training time for Major League Baseball and I am going to be a part of it by heading to West Palm Beach, Florida

I was fortunate enough to be able to play baseball for 24 years and even today I start to get the bug to oil up my glove and play some catch. Every January my friends would be into hockey and basketball but not me. It was time to think baseball. And so it is again as I prepare to head south in a few weeks to Spring Training in Florida.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am one of the biggest New York Yankee fan around in this area. I live and die Yankee pinstripes.  It is that dedication that makes today a national holiday for all New York Yankee fans.

I know you are all waiting to hear from me today regarding the collapse of my beloved New York Yankees. Yogi Berra said "it ain't over 'til it's over". Well, it's over. He also said "It's gettin' late early". Well it's past late. For those who think I am heading into depression, "forgetaboutit".

The picture says it all. On April 27th, former major leaguer Bill Skowron passed away at the age of 81. The "Moose" as he was known played for several teams including the Washington Senators, The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees...

With the advent of a brand new season comes renewed hope for millions of baseball fans that their favorite team might win it all this year.  For St. Louis Cardinal fans in the Y101 listening area, the memory of doing so is quite vivid in their minds.  For Chicago Cub fans the beginning of the season is the best time of the year.
