High Water Coming on the Mississippi River [updated]

(UNDATED)—High water is on the way along the Mississippi River. The National Weather Service says the Mississippi will crest Tuesday at Hannibal at 26.3 feet—just over ten feet above technical flood stage.

The Mississippi River Can’t Borrow from the Missouri River Right Now

As long as the weather remains mild traffic on the Mississippi River will continue to flow or will it?  Remember the drought we all went through this summer?  Well, the results of that are still being felt especially on the Mighty Mississippi.  With less water flowing from tributaries into the Mississippi, the water levels are getting dangerously low and as a result, barges are now required to carry lighter loads.

Champ Clark Bridge in Louisiana to Close Tuesday at 9am for Two Hours

Look for traffic to be shut down for a couple of hours on Tuesday crossing the Mississippi River at Louisiana. The official information from the Missouri Department of Transportation is as follows:
