What are some of the things you are most looking forward to during the summer of 2015? There's a good chance that a few of those things will be taking place in July. From National Tom Sawyer Days to Mary Poppins, here is a look at some of the fun upcoming events in our region for the month of July...
Way back in 1964 my mom and dad took me to a movie called Mary Poppins. I had heard about it but trying to get to Quincy on two lane roads back then was somewhat of a challenge. No four lane highways, just two lanes going into Quincy from Pittsfield, where I am from. My friends told me about Mary Poppins. We just had to go to see it.
One of the highlights of the summer is sure to be Quincy Community Theatre's production of 'Mary Poppins,' which local theater fans have been looking forward to since the 2015 season schedule was announced several months ago. After four days of auditions, QCT has selected 41 local actors and singers to appear in their summer musical.
I can remember going to the Washington Theater in Quincy to see Mary Poppins. I thought it was so magical and fun to watch. Now as I look back on it, I can appreciate the movie even more. I have a grandson who loves watching Mary Poppins. And now it is coming to the stage in Quincy!
