I'd say a few tree limbs took the brunt of the heavy wet snow we received over the weekend. Tree limbs lying on the ground were noticeable everywhere. Now the process of cleaning up those limbs is underway or will be shortly. The problem is you only have until this Friday to have the City of Quincy pick them up.
Quincy contractors and building trades business owners are invited to join Mayor Kyle A. Moore and city officials on Thursday, December 12 at 6:30 AM at City Hall, 730 Maine Street for Contractors Hour. Coffee and donuts will be served.
The City of Quincy is considering privatizing the collection of garbage and recycling instead of using the sticker program it has used for years. With that in mind, the City is going to hold two public hearings on the issue. The first hearing will be tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 at St. Peter's Church basement at 2600 Maine Street in Quincy.
The Quincy Fire Department has placed wreaths with red lights on them at all of their firehouses around the city of Quincy. The idea is to have nothing but red lights on the wreath which would mean a fire free Christmas season for homes in the city. Any home fires that occur would cause the Fire Department to change one of the red bulbs to a white bulb. So the goal is to keep the wreaths red and not white.
Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore is proposing that the City of Quincy should drop the garbage sticker option it has been using, in favor of one of two options which would see a flat fee for all users. The change would allow the City of Quincy to spend the increased monies on needed infrastructure improvements.
