The City of Quincy, through Allied Waste Services, will conduct the annual city wide cleanup on Saturday, September 27. The hours of operation will be slightly different than in previous years. This year the hours of operation will be from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Ok, how many weeks, including last night, has the City of Quincy been debating how to proceed with garbage pickup in the city? I've lost track. The point is the city needs new trucks to collect the trash. The trucks they have been using are breaking down regularly. So what should the city do?

Attention all 7th Ward residents, if you have any issues at all with the City of Quincy you are invited to a Town Hall meeting this Thursday night.

The City Of Quincy does this every year in City Hall Plaza. It is a bake sale which helps out a very good cause, The United Way in Quincy.

The City of Quincy has announced that City Hall will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. City Hall will reopen Tuesday, September 2nd, for regular business hours.

Yes, I know it is the end of July, but the City of Quincy is ready for winter.

They say if you are going to dream, dream big. When it comes to Quincy, there are several things I’d love to see happen in this beautiful Gem City. Some are achievable, some are way out there, and some will never happen. But a guy can dream, can’t he? From restaurants to entertainment here are six things on my personal Quincy dream list:

I received a newsletter this morning from The District in Quincy. In it, Travis Brown of wrote the following, “As Independence Day came and went, we have noticed that the American flags throughout The District are becoming more tattered and worn. This doesn't reflect well upon our City or our patriotism as a community, and The District is organizing an effort to change this.”

The City of Quincy is reminding residents of the city about the guidelines for the City Yard Waste Program. According to Marty Stegeman, the Director of Operations, grass clippings and leaves must be placed in paper bags and NOT plastic garbage bags. Plastic bags will NOT be collected.

It looks like the "heat" just got turned up today between City Hall and the Fire Department in Quincy.  In my mailbox today came a large postcard (see above) filled with information as to why the City of Quincy should NOT closed down one of its fire stations.
