It's been a lot of fun sitting in on the Y101 morning show for the past week. It's also been enlightening in several ways. Here are some things I learned while spending time with Dennis and the Big Dog.

  • If you plug your headphones into output 4, you’ll only hear out of one side, but if you plug into outputs 1, 2 or 3, you’ll hear out of both sides. Insist on outputs 1, 2 or 3.
  • We all know a lot of really awful jokes.
  • We don’t use our snake in a bottle to scare people often enough.
  • There are a lot of songs about rain.
  • If Dennis, the Big Dog, Brian and I all got together to watch a movie, we would be able to find something we could all agree on, but it might take some work.
  • That cheap coffee cup I found at the dollar store isn't microwaveable, after all.
  • The off button on the guest mic also kills the other guest microphone.
  • Bring your own donut holes. Some of the ones around here are a little stale.
  • If you want to know about the Yankees, ask the Big Dog. In fact, you might not even have to ask.
  • There’s a reason we have a TV in the Y101 studio.
  • When reporting “on location” about storms, it’s much easier if the location is just a few steps away from the front door.
  • The new U2 album is free on iTunes.
  • For some reason, we all seem to have personal stories about the Today show.
  • Sometimes we have to be told twice (or even more than twice) to make our weekly $10,000 Pro Football Pick’me picks.
  • There is a way to go to Six Flags’ Fright Fest without going broke.
  • It’s never too early to start thinking about Halloween.
  • Even world leaders sometimes need a little extra something to help them look their best.
  • The Y101 Facebook page is a good place to make new friends. Also, I might be weird.
  • They’ll make a TV show about anything.
  • Quincy has a direct tie to September 11 history.
  • Of the Tri-States, Iowa is officially the best state in which to have a baby.

It really has been a blast doing the morning show, even if it has meant I've had to get up a whole lot earlier than I normally would. In fact, the plan is to have me pop in a little more regularly, so for those of you that have liked having an extra person in the studio, good news for you! For those of you that want me to disappear and never come back... um... sorry?

Talk to you soon!
