So when I got out of bed this morning the first thing I thought was, "I wonder how our Spathiphyllum is doing?" Well, I got up, got dressed and came to work and I found out immediately that the radio station's Spathiphyllum was ill, and it was showing it.

I waited and contemplated just what it was I was going to have to do to make it better. Not known for having a green thumb, unless I fouled off a baseball pitch and bruised it, I thought to myself "what would I do if I were slumped over and just hanging around?" Ah ha! I would get something refreshing to drink. So it was that thought that drove me to the station water fountain and decided to provide our Spathiphyllum a refreshing drink of water.

As I poured water into into the vase, I could almost hear it saying, "Oh, thank you. I've been dying for a drink since August." Apparently, it was just what the plant doctor ordered because within an hour our Spathiphyllum was up and running , so to speak.

In discussing the near death of our very own Spathiphyllum with Mr. Oliver we began to ask if we had to name that plant what name would we choose. We thought "Fred" might be a good name but perhaps with additional thought "Phil" just might be better. So I think we might just go with that name.

So if you see me today, ask me what I did today. I can't wait to say that I saved a life today. The life of Phil or Spathiphyllum.
