At Monday night’s City Council meeting in Quincy the Council voted 11 to 3 in favor of an amendment to move monies within the budget to re-open Fire Station #6 at 24th and Cedar in Quincy. Even with the vote, the plan may never see the light of day. Some $200,000 of capital funds were moved from the Central Fire Station remodel project and 3rd Ward to the fire department’s general operations fund. This move will make it possible to re-open the fire station and also hire two additional fire-fighters as well.

Despite the council’s move last Monday, the proposal is not official until Mayor Kyle Moore signs off on it. The likelihood of the Mayor doing so is in question in that he has a concern about the long term effect it may have on the city’s budget.

So what do you think?
