The popular Salvation Army’s Ring-A-Bell 5K Run and Walk will be held this Saturday.  The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Quincy Mall parking lot. This year’s theme is “Go for the Gold, Run in the Cold.”  The proceeds from this annual event will help fund The Salvation Army Christmas campaign which locally provides Christmas food baskets, toys for children, Christmas dinner, and more for those in need throughout the tri-state area. The funds raised also support year-round services such as the organization’s food pantry, rent and utility assistance, and the operation of the emergency shelter.

There will be prizes awarded to winners and top finishers with the top male & female overall runners each winning a $100 Visa gift card. Prizes will also be given to those who dress up for the event, with categories including “Most Festive Individual” and “Most Festive Group.”

This year’s race coordinator is Melissa Bailey who is encouraging all interested runners and walkers to register online now by visiting krocquincy.org/ringabell. Participants can also register at The Kroc Center at 405 Vermont in Quincy. Registration will also be available during the race’s packet pick-up on Friday, December 1 at the Quincy Mall Fountain Court from 5 to 7 p.m.  Check-in and late registration will be held the morning of the race at the mall Fountain Court from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
