I was having lunch the other day when I overheard a conversation about the heavy rain we were getting.  The person next to me was mentioning how we really needed this rain and how this could be a "million dollar" rainfall for the farmers in the area.

Well, she was partly right.  The rain was definitely needed in the area but basically the rain we got Tuesday really was run-off rain unfortunately.  With the ground frozen much of the rain we got just made its way to a creek or tributary and into the Mississippi River. That in itself is a good thing since the Mississippi is low on water these days as well.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, I was glad it rained and rained hard for a while but we really need that kind of a rain in the spring when things are thawed out a little. Hopefully, that will be in the cards come April and May.
