Dennis Hibbard has seen first hand the violence escalation in Quincy the last two years as he was very close to the Ray Humphrey, Jr. family.  At 14 years of age, Ray was murdered a year ago in March when he was shot sitting outside a friend's home. Then other violent incidents occurred causing Dennis to ask "what can I do to make a difference?" It was then that the idea was spawned to put on a "Rock Against Violence" Concert in Quincy. Hibbard went to work on the project and it will culminate with the event being held this Saturday night at The State Room. The headliner will be Tony Harnell of the multi-platinum hard rock band TNT.  Tony recently took the lead singer position with Skid Row and also performs on his own as well as he will do Saturday at 10 p.m.

Joining Tony as the supporting act will be the local band La Cosa Nostra who will perform from 7 to 10.  A $20 donation is being asked at the door with all proceeds going to the Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers takes anonymous tips at 228-4474 and pays cash rewards up to $1000 for information leading to an arrest in criminal cases.

The sponsors for Saturday's concert are Smith Brother's Power Sports, Keck Plumbing and Moore's Floors. Tickets are available in advance at Second String Music at 5th and Maine Streets in Quincy or by contacting Dennis Hibbard at 653-4737. Tickets will also be available at the door Saturday.

I took the opportunity to talk to Dennis Hibbard on Y101 Radio to discuss Saturday's event.
