I watched the news last night at 5:30 and the more I watched the more I became depressed with the state of affairs in our country and the world. In the short time I watched the television, I saw stories about children being executed, famine relief, rioting in the St. Louis area, power plants being bombed, wildfires in the west, hurricanes in Hawaii and the spreading Ebola disease in Africa and three people including two children died in a Quincy fire. My God is there no good news anywhere?

How depressing can it get? Then the breaking news of the day came that comedian Robin Williams took his own life in the Bay Area. At a time when we need people to make us laugh, one of the guys who made millions of us laugh made us cry.

His loss comes at a bad time that we live in. Maybe Robin needed a laugh as well.
