I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the town of Canton, Missouri.

Canton was my second place to call home back in 1980. After leaving my home town of Pittsfield, Illinois, I got a job at radio station KQ 102(KQCA). It was in a shack, up on a bluff in Canton, where we played records. Yes, vinyl records, with a hold in the middle. We had a great staff which included the one and only Reggie Coleman, the Chocolate Thunder. The walls were covered with carpet, with all kinds of colors. A very small radio station that, for a while, was very big.

I lived in a trailor in downtown Canton and we had a blast. I'm sure some of you are familiar with the bar "OC's" in Canton, that is where we partied, along with a whole bunch of Culver-Stockton students back in the day. Canton was full of great, fun loving people. That is why I am writing this blog. The City of Canton has had it's share of hard times throughout the years. Tornadoes, floods and fires.

Some two months ago, a fire destroyed four buildings in downtown Canton. That was a huge loss for the town. But now, things are looking up. Canton is rebuilding. You would think that what Canton has gone through, people would be leaving. But no, the city is rebuilding and things are looking up thanks to the people who believe in Canton. So, here is to Canton. Thank you for the many great times I had in Canton. It will always be a part of me.
