Press release from Quincy University

Quincy University hosted its annual QU Fund Kickoff on August 26 in the newly-renovated Quincy University cafeteria. After five years of setting and surpassing an annual goal of $1 million, the goal for 2015-16 has been raised to $1.1 million—the most ambitious goal in QU history.

“We are raising our goal this year in light of our continued success and the ever-increasing demands of providing an exemplary education,” Julie Bell, vice president for university advancement says.

Chairpersons for this year’s campaign are Jeff and Theresa Spear of Quincy-based Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Theresa is a 1996 alumna of Quincy University and Jeff is a former member of the QU Board of Trustees. The Spears are also representatives of an endowed art scholarship named in their honor and a second scholarship in memory of Jeff’s parents, George and Charlotte.

“It's important that we join together to make a significant contribution to strengthen Quincy University and provide for her future students by giving to the QU Fund,” Jeff says.

The QU Fund supports areas of greatest need at Quincy University including scholarships, technology upgrades, campus enhancements, and faculty development. In addition, the QU Fund benefits the long-term financial health and stability of QU by way of the University’s endowment.

“This aggressive goal will be a challenge, but I am confident our alumni, friends, and business supporters will come through and help us achieve this milestone,” Matt Bergman, director of development and alumni services, says.

The 2014-15 QU Fund raised a record $1,093,000 from June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015.
