The second annual Tri-State Severe Weather and Preparedness Conference will be held Saturday, April 9 from 8 am to 4:30 pm at the Kroc Center in Quincy and there is a chance you could win your own storm shelter.The Adams County Emergency Management Agency is working with the National Weather Service offices in St. Louis, Lincoln, Illinois and Davenport, Iowa to put on the conference.

The conference keynote speaker will be Laura Furgione, deputy director of the National Weather Service. The conference will also feature separate break-out sessions on weather-related topics and

emergency response situations. The general public is invited to attend the event which is geared toward storm spotters and emergency management workers. The cost is $50 per person and includes breakfast and lunch. This is also a continuing education credit event for emergency managers in Illinois and for EMS workers in Illinois and Missouri.

Hannibal Concrete Products has also provided a 12-person concrete storm shelter that will be raffled off to raise money for storm spotter equipment. Tickets for the raffle, at $20 per ticket, will be available at the conference, from any Adams County storm spotter or by calling the Adams County Emergency Management Agency at 217-277-2005.
