Quincy Student Musicians Bring Home Awards at Midland Music Institute

A group of student musicians from Quincy attended The Salvation Army Midland Music Institute at Camp Mihaska in Bourbon, Missouri, early in July and brought back an array of top awards.

Attending the institute were Quincy students, Caleb Carter, Marco and Christian DelCastillo, Alexiss and Brianne Enright, Marie Kamp, Wynter Knight, Jillian Pratt, Emily Radkins, and Ginny Rumple.

The following honors were awarded: Brianne Enright – Blue Springs Band Most Improved Student; Jillian Pratt – Ramsdale Solo Contest Third Place; Ginny Rumple – Ramsdale Band First Place and Bonnie Jaudes Excellence in Music Award (CMI Scholarship); Christian DelCastillo – Mihaska Band Solo Contest Third Place, Mihaska Band Second Place, and the Ernie & Mary Carr Gold Star Award (CMI Scholarship); Marco DelCastillo – Drum Line First Place; Wynter Knight – Vivace Vocal Solo Contest Third Place and the Clay Simmons Musicians Award (CMI Scholarship).

Representing The Salvation Army, Quincy Corps, the students also brought back the honor of the Institute’s prestigious, ‘Top Corps Award’. Other integral members of the team responsible for this award were Caleb Carter, Alexiss Enright, Marie Kemp, and Emily Radkins.

The Midland Music Institute is held every year in conjunction with the Camp Mihaska Music Conservatory. It is part of the programming made available to all students participating in Kroc Center music programs including the Joe Bonansinga Music Institute.
