The Quincy Preserves organization is a long standing group of people whose mission is to foster awareness of and to promote appreciation of the historic architecture of Quincy, Illinois, and Adams County and to encourage active membership involvement in the recognizing, protecting, maintaining, and displaying of these structures.

Quincy Preserves recently held its annual membership picnic and awarded two $500 scholarships to local recipients. The 2018 Quincy Preserves scholarship winners were Sara Ann McIntire, a graduate of Quincy Senior High School who plans on attending the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, and Georgia Elaine Graham, a graduate of Unity High School who will attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Students were judged on grade point average, class rank, altruistic participation in the community, letters of personal support, and scholastic attributes conveyed in an essay supporting historic preservation within the local area.

The two scholarship recipients each read their award winning essays for the the membership, their families, and guests at the awards picnic.
