Quincy native and United States Military Academy Junior Steven Musholt is hopeful he will still be a part of the Opening Day ceremonies at New York's historic Yankee Stadium. Unfortunately, the ceremonies and the game was postponed to tomorrow due to inclement weather in the New York area today.

Platoon Sergeant Musholt, majoring in Systems Engineering at the West Point campus, was scheduled to be a part of the group involved with the rolling out of the American Flag for the National Anthem ceremony prior to the New York Yankees-Houston Astros season opener today.

Steven took the opportunity to sign up online when the Academy posted a need for a few Cadets to be a part of the Yankees opening day activities.  Volunteer sign ups occur all the time at the Academy, but this one was a very popular sign up so Steven was fortunate in being selected. Musholt won't know until later today if the opportunity will be there for him to do it tomorrow..

Musholt attended Quincy Notre Dame High School and graduated in 2013.  When asked if West Point was everything he thought it would be, he said that it is and more. By his own admission, he had an unfair advantage in knowing what he was getting into in that his older brother, David, is a West Point graduate. 1st Lieutenant David Musholt is now assigned at Ft. Hood, Texas. Steven will find out what his next assignment after graduation will be in November and then know where he will be assigned by January.

West Point, New York is located 48 miles north of New York City in the beautiful Hudson Valley and Steven’s was some 43 miles into the trip this morning when he found out the game would not be held today.  Steven and David are the sons of Alan and Carolyn Musholt of Quincy.
