The 12th Street entrance to the Illinois Veterans Home, the largest and oldest veterans' home in the state of Illinois. It was previously known as the Soldiers and Sailors Home, before a name change in 1974.

The Illinois Veterans Home sits on 210 acres of property. In addition to veterans' housing, the campus is also home to the All Wars Museum, and Sunset Cemetery, where over 7,000 veterans and spouses, dating back to the Civil War, are at rest.
