In an attempt to teach children about healthy eating, Quincy's Hy-vee On Harrison is hosting a Kids Food Art Day this weekend.

I don't know about you, but I HATE cooking dinner. And if it were up to my girls, they'd be having chicken fingers, french fries, and mac-n-cheese every single day (they don't, but they'd love to). I try EVERYTHING to get them to eat healthy foods and try different options, but nope, they're set on chicken fingers and french fries. So when I saw this event, it really got me thinking.

This Saturday's Food Art Day is exactly what it sounds like; a day where your kids can play with their food AND eat it. From 10:00 to 10:30 am, kids are invited to create one or two food designs and actually eat them.

Now this could be very interesting if you have kiddos who already love trying different foods, or if you're like me and trying to get your kids to lean that way. The cost is $5 and reservations are required. Call 217-224-9442 or email

Kids 1533dietitian1@hy-vee.com to reserve your spot.
