The city of Quincy fell short in its bid to be named an All-America City for the third time.

Quincy was one of 16 finalists for the honor. Ten cities received the designation Sunday night in a competition sponsored by the National Civic League.

In making its case in Denver over the weekend, the Quincy delegation focused on three kid related programs: Quincy Teen Reach, Chaddock and the United Way of Adams County’s Financial Stability Initiative.

Quincy was the only Midwest city among the finalists. Quincy had previously been selected as an All-America City in 1962 and 1984.
