A story that the Herald-Whig published last month has climbed to the top of Facebook’s trending list. It was a story about the Zanger family of Quincy, which reached the plateau of 100 grandchildren!

According to the article, Ruth and Leo Zanger have 12 children. With the birth of great-grandchild Jaxton Leo on April 8, Ruth and Leo now have 53 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. That story has gone viral since it was published by the Herald-Whig.

When I first read it I thought how unique it is to have a family reach the century club in membership. Now comes word that there are others apparently in the area. On Facebook this morning, Linda England posted that her parents have 17 children, 61 grand-children alive + 5 stillborn/ or lost in pregnancy, 43 great grand-children + 2 on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren. So her family has a total of 111 plus 2 on the way.

Others are posting the numbers of their family as well since the story hit Facebook. Congratulations to those families and good luck cutting in line at the family reunions.
