Press release from Quincy Community Theatre

Quincy Community Theatre is opening the world of theatre, opera, and comedy to Tri-State children.

Reservations for “Family Night Out,” a theatrical workshop in conjunction with the theatre’s upcoming production of LEND ME A TENOR, are being accepted through Monday, September 14 for children ages 5-10 whose parents are watching that evening’s performance. Led by Head of Education Kelsey Celek, “Family Night Out” will expose students to the world of opera with exciting theatrical games and activities. By the end of the evening, children will learn basic opera facts, experience what it’s like to be a conductor, and even learn a little about that evening’s farce with a crash course in pratfalls. Kids will also build a healthy snack resembling the Sydney Opera House, as well as take a special LEND ME A TENOR photo with their families after the show.

Developed to help continue theatrical experiences for young children, “Family Night Out” is an excellent way for families to still share a theatrical experience even during shows that are not geared specifically for children.

“Family Night Out” workshop tickets are $18 each, available for children ages 5-10. Children under the age of 5 will not be admitted. Tickets to LEND ME A TENOR are also $18, on sale now. Families who wish to participate must make reservations by Monday, September 14. Walk-ups will not be accepted.

LEND ME A TENOR is directed by Artistic Director Brandon Thomsen, with scenic design by Technical Director Paul Denckla, and stage management by Jeri Conboy.
