Quincy Community Theatre Sells ‘Wanda’s World’ Bracelets for Sammy Fund
Quincy Community Theatre is gearing up for its production of the fresh, electrifying new musical ‘Wanda’s World’—and supporting our community in the process.
QCT is selling ‘Wanda’s World’ bracelets, featured in the show, to support the Sammy Fund— providing youth access to worthwhile activities in our community by opening doors to participation for children whose opportunities are limited. Each bracelet features “NOT EVERYONE EATS CHEESE,” a saying throughout the show carrying a strong anti-bullying message: despite our differences, we should all be treated with respect.
“We’re glad that these young people are able to use their unique talents to support a fund that gives so much support to other young people,” says Student Theatre Director Brandon Thomsen. “It’s wonderful to see them coming together and building a healthy community both onstage and off.”

Set to a catchy score with pop-rock melodies and irresistible hip-hop choreography, ‘Wanda’s World’ is a feel-good, family musical for the “tween” in all of us. It tells the story of Wanda Butternut, the popular host of the hit TV talk show, ‘Wanda’s World,’ where kids call in to get advice from Wanda to solve their problems. Wanda is beautiful, confident, and always knows what to say…in her fantasy. In real life, Wanda is a girl with a big birthmark on her face, who is terrified to deal with the first day of school in a new town. Gradually, with the help of two extraordinary teachers, she overcomes incredible odds and learns to follow her own path.
Flying in for this dazzling production are the musical’s celebrated Composer/Lyricist Beth Falcone and Writer Eric H. Weinberger. This dynamic duo will provide their unique insight to the cast prior to the show, a special Saturday workshop for cast members and aspiring actors, and offer talk-back sessions for interested community members after every performance.
‘Wanda’s World’ runs Jan. 31-Feb. 3. Tickets are $12, on sale now. ‘Wanda’s World’ is under the direction of Student Theatre Director Brandon Thomsen with Vocal Director Jillian Miller, Choreographer Mindy Holthaus, and Conductor Gayle Tenhouse. Scenic and lighting design is by Technical Director Paul Denckla with costumes by resident designer Anna Grywalski.
Bracelets are $1, on sale now at the QCT Box Office, and will be sold by cast members during the production. For more information about The Sammy Fund, visit thesammyfund.com.
