Quincy Community Theatre does more than just produce great entertainment. Education is also an important part of their mission, and QCT offers theater classes for students and adults. Quincy Community Theater has announced their lineup of fall classes, and registration for those classes is now open.

There’s something for everyone this fall at Quincy Community Theatre!

An exciting new slate of theatre courses for adults and students is now open for registration. Whether they’re using popular films to engage young actors, or offering insight into advanced theatrical skills and topics for older students and adults, QCT’s education opportunities are perfect for performers of all ages and experience levels. QCT works to create a fun environment in all of its classes where it’s impossible to fail, creativity is encouraged, and all participants feel safe and respected. All courses are taught by QCT Head of Education Kelsey Celek.

Fall classes include:

  • GRADES K-3
    • DESPICABLE ME: MINION ACADEMY: Little minions will use the stories and characters from the popular films to explore their imaginations, develop actor skills, and develop their own minion characters and inventions.
      Mondays: October 26-December 14 (no class November 23), 4:30-5:30 PM. Tuition: $60
    • BROADWAY BABIES: Introduce your little one to the world of musical theatre with this exciting new course. Kids will learn the basics of storytelling through song and dance, leading to a special performance of their own musical numbers.
      Wednesdays: October 28-December 16 (no class November 25), 4:30-5:30 PM. Tuition: $60
  • GRADES 4-6
    • AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!: Fight for good (and theatre) in this Marvel-themed course! Students will work on the physical and vocal skills necessary to create larger-than-life characters like the ones in the comic books and movies.
      Wednesdays: October 28-December 16 (no class November 25), 6-7 PM. Tuition: $60
  • GRADES 7-9
    • DIALECTS: Journey around the world without ever leaving the stage! Students will use well-known scripts to learn the basics of speaking with a dialect to communicate specific characters.
      Thursdays: October 29-December 17 (no class November 26), 5-6 PM. Tuition: $60
  • GRADES 10-COLLEGE
    • STARTING SHAKESPEARE: This course will introduce students to performing, not just reading, Shakespeare’s plays. We will work on text analysis to discover details within these beautiful works. Great for beginners or anyone who wants to learn more!
      Mondays: October 26-December 14 (no class November 23), 6:00-7:00 PM. Tuition: $60
  • ADULTS (AGES 18+)
    • SCRIPT ANALYSIS: You’ve just been cast in a play...now what? Adults will explore how to break down a script and use that information when creating a character.
      Thursdays: October 29-December 17 (no class November 26), 6:30-7:30 PM. Tuition: $60
