Quincy Community Theatre thanks its patrons for their generous donation of $277 to The Sammy Fund.

The money was raised through the sale of purple wristbands featured in the theatre’s regional premiere of 'Wanda’s World,' a brand-new musical about a young girl named Wanda and her rocky start at a new school.

Each bracelet displayed the saying “NOT EVERYONE EATS CHEESE,” a phrase throughout the show carrying a strong anti-bullying message: despite our differences, we should all be treated with respect.

While children were excited to buy a bracelet like those worn by the actors, QCT was happier to give back to an outstanding fund that has supported its own students throughout the years. Through community donations, The Sammy Fund provides youth access to worthwhile activities in our community by opening doors to participation for children whose opportunities are limited. This incredible mission means supporting groups thatmaintain and enhance community betterment, as well as those that provide artistic, leadership, and humanitarian opportunity for young people—groups like QCT.

“We’re glad that these young people were able to use their unique talents to support a fund that gives so much support to other young people,” says Student Theatre Director Brandon Thomsen. “It’s wonderful to see them coming together and building a healthy community both onstage and off.”

The money is to be presented to The Sammy Fund this February in the lobby of the Oakley-Lindsay Center.
