It’s 110° in the shade, and it hasn’t rained for months. Lizzie Curry keeps house for her father and two brothers on the family ranch in a drought-ridden rural town during depression-era America. She has just returned to the ranch after visiting cousins, a trip that was undertaken with the failed expectation that she would find herself a husband. As their farm languishes under the devastating drought, Lizzie’s family worries all the more about her marriage prospects. Enter Starbuck, a charming, conman who promises to bring rain for a fee. Starbuck’s offer begins a series of events that enable Lizzie—and others—to see her in a whole new light. The Rainmaker runs May 2-5 & 9-11, with technical rehearsals April 26-May 1.
