Quincy City Fireworks Display on July 4 Will Be at The Illinois Veteran’s Home
The Illinois Veterans Home Quincy and WGEM-TV announced that the 2014 Fourth of July fireworks celebration will once again be held on the Illinois Veterans Home grounds in 2014. This is the third time in the past four years that the event has taken place there.
Initially opened in 1886 as “The Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Home”, the beautiful grounds of the Veterans Home offers a great venue to enjoy the many activities that will be offered, to watch a great fireworks show, plus have the chance to visit with many of the veterans who live there.
Planned activities include a Fishing Tournament at the Home’s Lake Illinois on the morning of July 4 followed that evening with a Kids Zone area and other activities. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display sponsored by WGEM, County Market, Refreshment Services Pepsi, Titan Wheel, Cape Air, and Blessing Health System. The Quincy Park Band will continue to be part of the festivities.
