The City of Quincy 175th Anniversary Committee in partnership with the Rotary Club of Quincy will be hosting the Bayview Bridge Lighting Celebration on Saturday, August 22. The event at Clat Adams Park will begin at 3:00 p.m. and go until midnight. There will be live music, food, drinks, family entertainment and fireworks. The musical entertainment will appeal to all music lovers as the acts will include acoustical, country, blues, pop and classic rock during the event.  There will be no charge for admission to the celebration activities.

The music and event schedule is listed below:

3:00 – 4:00: Music by Liz Bentley (acoustic)

4:30 – 6:30: Music by Madd Hoss Jackson (country)

7:00 – 8:30: Music by the Matt Roberts Blues Band (blues)

8:30 – 9:00: Bridge Lighting and Fireworks Show

9:30 – 11:30: Music by Rio! (Dance/Pop and Classic Rock)

The event was to have featured a thousand foot long water slide known as "Slide the City" that was supposed to stretch from Fourth and Hampshire to the riverfront. Those plans were cancelled after talks between Quincy’s 175 Committee and Slide the City broke down when the Utah-based company asked for guarantees that 2,500 ride tickets would be sold or that a $25,000 corporate sponsorship could be secured. Also, the committee had asked for proof of the company’s insurance coverage without success.
