A Quincy University football player is off the team following a guilty plea to manufacture and delivery of marijuana in Adams County.

Dante Flowers of St. Louis plead guilty to felony charges for delivery of 10 to 30 grams of marijuana. Other charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Quincy University football coach Tom Pajic issued a statement Tuesday regarding Dante Flowers:

"We are extremely disappointed in the actions of Dante Flowers. His behavior directly misrepresents the mission of the University and is unacceptable for student-athletes in our program. Dante was held accountable for his actions immediately following a judicial hearing with the University, receiving multiple sanctions from the school and serving a game suspension for violating team rules and committing acts detrimental to the football program. During this time, the coaching staff and administration have helped Dante be a better student, teammate and person. Through these actions, we have worked alongside Dante to give him the resources necessary to help him better represent himself and become a productive student-athlete at Quincy University.

"In conjunction with that, we allowed for due process in the court system to determine our next course of action. Based on today’s outcome, Dante has been dismissed from our football program and faces additional review from the University judicial process."
