Quincy University Hawks senior men’s basketball player Joseph Tagarelli has been selected to play in the 2017 Reese’s® Division 2 College All-Star game, which will be played as part of the 2017 NCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Championship. Tagarelli, of Waunakee, Wisconsin, was also named to the NABC All-Midwest District first team, his second first team regional honor of the postseason after earning Division 2 CCA accolades last week.

The Reese’s Division 2 College All-Star game will be played this Friday at 7 p.m. CDT at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the site of the NCAA Division 2 Elite Eight. The teams are composed of two senior student-athletes from each of the eight regions in Division 2 and five senior at-large selections. The game will be streamed live on the Sanford Pentagon Facebook page.

Tagarelli, who will suit up for the West team, posted one of the best seasons in school history this season helping the Hawks to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, their first postseason berth since 2010. He broke the school’s single-season scoring record, compiling 632 points and 19.8 points per game, which led the GLVC.  The fifth-year forward was named to the All-GLVC first team and was the GLVC Player of the Week four times – one of just two players to do that since 2005-06.

The Hawks finished the season with a 25-7 overall record and claimed their first outright GLVC West Division championship. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, 78-75, in the first round before falling to host Bellarmine in the round of 32.
