As high water levels continue to rise along the Mississippi River, the Memorial Bridge in Quincy has been closed. Traffic is be diverted to Quincy's Bayview Bridge, which will now accommodate one lane of traffic flowing into Quincy, and another lane going out of the city and into Missouri.

The Quincy Police Department has issued this statement regarding the traffic situation:

The Memorial Bridge has been closed and the Bayview Bridge is now set up for east and west bound traffic.  We have received a few phone calls regarding the long lines of traffic. We cannot solve that issue. Traffic will flow best by the use of the traffic signals. Drivers need to be patient and those intending to use the bridge should plan extra time for travel.
As a reminder:  Pedestrian traffic is also prohibited on the Memorial Bridge. Please do not go past the barricades.

A Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River. There is a slight chance of showers early in the day on Friday. The weekend forecast looks dry, but the National Weather Service says that Quincy will see a 30% chance of additional showers and thunderstorms on Monday.
