Congratulations to Jayne Pieper and Denise Sangoi, winners of the first-ever Women of Distinction Awards, presented by Townsquare Median and the American Business Women’s Association - Quincy Chapter. Pieper, who works in Sales and Promotions at Blessing Health Systems, won in the Rising Stars category. Sangoi, an Occupational Therapist at Blessing Hospital, was the winner in the Shining Star category.

"As an Occupational Therapist, Denise puts her patients first," said Sara Lepper, a lifelong friend who nominated Sangoi for the award. "She spends so much time getting to know each one of them. She truly wants to connect with her patient and develop a strong bond of trust. From a very young age, Denise showed courage, determination, drive and kindness for others. She is just an amazing example of what you would want your best friend to be. She is the most selfless person I know. She brings out the best in every single person she's around."

The Shining Star (age 40 and over) nominees were:

Jennifer Frericks – Blessing Health System
Dr. Susan Lomax – Educator
Debi Moore – Moore Insurance Advisors

Jayne Pieper was nominated by Darlene Scheuremann. "When I heard about the award, I immediately thought of her," Scheuremann said. "Jayne loves the Quincy and Tri-State area and community. She is outstanding spokesperson for the area and is the first to volunteer to be on a board or to try and put on events and fundraisers. She has been involved in several large community promotions including the Subway Shootout, Do or Die Football game, Dock Tape Events for Quincy Hospitality House and numerous other events in the area."
