Pat yourself on the back Perry, Missouri! You've earned it.

Perry is the most underrated town in Missouri, according a recent report in the Lifestyles section of MSN News. Here's what the article has to say about this Ralls County town:

Perry is a little lake town with a big heart. With a population of fewer than 700 people, it's the classic small Midwestern town -- but don't expect a ho-hum, slow-paced life. The town serves as the "gateway" to Mark Twain Lake, which is only minutes away and draws millions of visitors each year. If you live in Perry, you'll get all of the economic opportunity and bustle of the tourism trade without being submerged in a tourist town.

I've watched Perry's transformation over the decades and they have so much to be proud of. They could have gone the way of other communities of their size and just sputtered into despair. What the people of this town did was take initiative and transform with the creation of Mark Twain Lake.

Today, Perry is an excellent place to shop for antiques. You can find a fabulous tenderloin there. And no one serves a better pie than the ones you can find in Perry. And of course the ingredient that makes any place great is the people, and you'll find some great folks in Perry. Congratulations!
