Well here's an idea for a one-of-a-kind keepsake. Breast milk jewelry. That's right. Rings, bracelets, pendants, earrings...you supply the milk, these companies will create a custom-made piece.

But that's not all! Clip a bit of umbilical cord, save back a small chunk of placenta, or snip a bit of baby's hair and they'll mix that in for a truly unique piece. If you're not a trustworthy type and you fear the manufacturer will use any old breast milk and not your own, you can find options for DIY breast milk jewelry kits on etsy.com. The stones tend to resemble opals, which are quite pretty really. If you throw in some added DNA the results vary.

The manufacturers have kitschy names like Precious Mammaries and The Milky Way. Click here for the top five.

Look, I'm a huge supporter of breastfeeding. When my twins were born, I became a master at the "football hold." I tucked each girl under an arm and feed them at the same time. I did this for a solid year. I breastfed even longer for my two singletons. My mom breastfed all nine of us, back in the day when doctors told her that there was no need to breastfeed when there were so many options for formula. I gotta tell you though; breast milk jewelry is a little over the top for me, especially if you're adding placenta and umbilical cord. I just can't...but if that's you're thing, I say go for it!
