One Direction have broken yet another record. The U.K. ‘X Factor’ alums now have the fastest selling pre-order single in history!

The band announced their upcoming single, ‘Live While We’re Young,’ in a special video for Directioners yesterday. The track became available for pre-order at midnight today (Aug. 24) and went on to top the charts in 40 countries. Keep in mind that this is before the song was even released — that’s nuts! Directioners won’t be able to hear the song until Sept. 30 in the U.K. and Oct. 1 here in the U.S., but if you expected that to stop any of them, you clearly don’t know 1D’s fanbase very well.

‘Live While We’re Young’ will be the first single from One Direction’s followup to ‘Up All Night,’ due in November.

This is far from the first record that One Direction have shattered. 1D were the first ever U.K. band to debut at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard chart, and so far ‘Up All Night’ is the top selling debut album of 2012 in the U.S. Their live DVD went triple Platinum in the U.S. and double Platinum in their native U.K., making it the biggest selling music DVD of the year.

Did we mention they also sold out Madison Square Garden faster than anyone else ever? The only direction they’re going is up!
