November 12th will be a big day for the Advocacy Network for Children as a new support group will be available for children and their caregivers who have experienced trauma such as sexual abuse, physical abuse or have been a witness to violent crime.  The program’s goal is to provide support and treatment to help these children and caregivers heal from the pain and mend the effects caused by the trauma.  In addition, the program will deal with how to reduce the stigma that comes with abuse services, gain support and build coping skills for these children and caregivers.

The program is for children ages 8 to 18 with a separate meeting for their caregivers.  Meetings will be held once a week for six weeks and last approximately 90 minutes.  After six weeks, program participants will meet once a month.

Registration is required. To register, or for more information, contact Clairice Hetzler at clairicehetzler@gmail.com or by calling 217-257-8262.  This support group is made possible by funding provided by the Advocacy Network for Children.
