My Favorite Game Show, Jeopardy, Turned 50 Yesterday
Jeopardy is and has been my favorite game show on TV. It has a way of making you feel good that you can answer a few of the questions asked and then it has a way of making you feel quite inadequate and borderline stupid. A few years ago I managed to make it to the second round of the online Jeopardy contest for all of the Midwest. Call it luck or whatever, I was feeling pretty good about my mental capacities at that point.
Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the show which debuted in 1964. Just with that sentence you can tell I am on my math game today. Tomorrow might be another story.
This year will also mark the 30th year for Alex Trebek as the host of the show. I wonder if he answers everything with a question? If he doesn't, then I will.
Alex, I will take game show hosts for $100. "Alex Trebek replaced this man, who also hosted a radio talk show on KMOX in St. Louis for a while, as host of Jeopardy." The answer is "Who was Art Fleming?" I knew that one!
