‘Moonlight Ride For Hunger’ Registration is Underway
It was a huge success a year ago and there is no reason to doubt it won’t be successful this year. I am referring to the second annual Moonlight Ride for Hunger to be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 25 at Clat Adams Park.
Participants get to choose from three different ride lengths including 4 mile, 11 mile or 19 mile routes, but the highlight of the ride is getting to bike across both Quincy bridges. This event is for riders of all experience levels, from beginner to pro.
It’s all for a great cause too! All proceeds benefit Horizons Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry. Last year over 350 riders raised $11,000 for Horizons plus canned goods were collected as well. The hope is to exceed those totals this year. We plan to exceed that this year!
All bike riders are invited to participate in the family fun event. Registration is available online at bikesignup.com or at Madison-Davis Bicycles located at 8th & Jefferson. The cost is $25 plus a canned food item through August 20th and increases to $30 plus a canned food item until the day of the race. Children ages 10-15 years of age can ride for free if accompanied by a paying adult and a canned good for Horizons. Children under the age of 10 are unable to participate, due to safety precautions.
Every rider is required to wear a helmet and have proper lighting. Bicycle safety checks will be provided by Madison-Davis Bike Shop the night before and also at the event. Follow the Moonlight Ride for Hunger Facebook page for details leading up to the event.
The Moonlight Ride for Hunger is sponsored by our good friends at WGCA, Red Cactus Salsa and by Horizons Food Pantry.
