The Missouri State Fair has announced that 36 youth, including one from Monroe City, Missouri, have been selected from the Missouri 4-H and FFA, to be awarded scholarships by the Missouri State Fair Foundation Youth in Agriculture (YIA) committee.

One of those youths is Jess Greiman, of Monroe City who will be receiving a $1,500 scholarship.  All 36 students will be recognized on Friday, April 20, in Columbia at the annual State FFA Convention.

To qualify for the scholarship, a youth must seek a higher education at a Missouri university or college and was evaluated based upon his or her Missouri State Fair participation, grade point average, community involvement and leadership roles. The scholarship program has been in effect since 1993.

The scholarships are funded through the generosity of Youth in Agriculture sponsors and buyers of the livestock sold during the annual Sale of Champions at the Missouri State Fair.  A portion of each animal’s sale price is allocated to the scholarship program.

This year’s 116th annual Missouri State Fair will be held August 9 through August 19 in Sedalia.
