Miley Cyrus did her best to shock the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. She succeeded.

Some of the the overnite reviews were not pretty. MSNBC called it "really disturbing." The NBC Today Show guest co-anchor Brooke Shields, who played Miley's mom on 'Hanna Montana' called the performance "desperate". Even the Parents Television Council got in on it saying, "MTV has once again succeeded in marketing sexually charged messages to young children using former child stars and condom commercials all the while falsely rating this program as appropriate for kids as young as 14." They go on to say this is not respectable.

If Miley wanted some publicity, she got it big time. Media reaction to Miley's bump and grind veered between disgust and saddnes. Oh, and by the way, it was Miley's dad's 52nd birthday. I leave it to Bill Maher who tweeted "I haven't been to a strip club in a while, but good to see nothing has changed."

What did you think of the show. Let us know. This should be interesting. And all I wanted to see on the show was the N'SYNC reunion. Short but awesome. Kind of like Miley's costume.
