A 24-year-old Quincy man faces charges of Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property over 100-thousand dollars as the result of an investigation into the Newcomob Hotel fire on September 6.

A joint investigation by Quincy Police and the Quincy Fire Department developed information that 24-year-old Matthew C. Clark had been inside the Newcomb Hotel building on prior occasions. As part of the investigation, detectives located Clark and spoke with him about his prior entries into the building. Police say that in the course of the interview, Clark divulged that he had been in the Newcomb Hotel building on the evening of the fire.

Clark was arrested Monday morning and is held in the Adams County Jail. Police say the investigation continues.
