Local golf fans will get the chance to watch Quincy native and PGA member Luke Guthrie play in Quincy on May 29.

Guthrie is returning to the WGEM/Herald-Whig   Tri-State Pro-Am and will be reunited with one of his college teammates.

The Board of Directors for the WGEM/Herald Whig Tri-State Pro-Am announced that Guthrie, the Quincy native who is in his fifth year as a professional golfer and playing on the Web.com Tour this season, is the first of 18 golfers to commit to play in the event to be held at Spring Lake Country Club.

After three seasons on the PGA Tour, Guthrie is working to regain his tour card this season by playing the Web.com circuit.  On the PGA Tour, Guthrie best finish was third place at the Honda Open in 2013. Guthrie turned pro in 2012 following a stellar career at Illinois where he won two Big Ten Conference championships. Overall at Illinois Guthrie won seven collegiate tournaments.

Guthrie will be joined by Brian Campbell, a 2015 graduate of the University of Illinois who was the low amateur at the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Campbell turned pro in 2015 and was a full-time member of the Web.com Tour in 2016, finishing 15th in the money standings to earn his PGA Tour card.
