It should come as no surprise that area food pantries can use all the help they can get in replenishing supplies for those in need. In some cases the demand far exceeds the supply. So how can you help? Well this Saturday, the National Association of Letter Carriers is conducting their 26th Annual "Stamp Out Hunger" National Food Drive.

The letter carriers are asking that you place your non-perishable donation in a bag by your mailbox and they will pick it up Saturday and deliver it to several local food pantries in the area.  Most people should have received a postcard in the mail this week with more information.

Some of the items they are looking for are pasta, cereal, oatmeal, canola oil, peanut butter, canned goods including beans, fruit, vegetables, soup, tuna in water, meat (in cans) and sauce. Please no glass containers. All you do is place those items near your mailbox. That's it. You don't have to do anything else to help stamp out hunger in our area.

So please take this opportunity to help restock the food pantry supplies on Saturday. For more information, go to www.stampouthungerfooddrive.us.
