If friends and family will be arriving in Quincy on Friday or Saturday for Christmas one place you need to take them is the John Wood Mansion to tour the facility. It is a must-see stop for all in the area this Christmas.  The final two dates to tour the Mansion are Friday, December 21 and Saturday, December 22.  The tours run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. both nights.

You will be greeted with the soft glow of Christmas lights and gorgeous greenery adorning the columns and porch rails of Illinois’ 12th Governor’s Greek Revival-style home. Walk inside to see numerous trees and hundreds of ornaments reflecting the flicker of candlelight and twinkle lights.

The tours are free. Each tour will be serenaded with holiday music from the nineteenth-century. Local musicians Zeke and Carol Howerter are among those performing period music for this year's tours. Carol will be featured playing the Magnussen organ and Melodeon. Light refreshments will be available to attendees.

Reservations are suggested, but not required. For more information or to make a reservation, call the Historical Society of Quincy of Adams County at 217-222-1835.
