The Kroc Center has issued a statement on their Facebook page following a chemical fire in the pool area that resulted in the evacuation of the building approximately 9:50 am on Friday. While no injuries were reported, the Kroc Center closed shortly thereafter and will remain so until further notice.

After further investigation into the cause of this morning's fire, it has been determined to be related to the renovations that are currently being made to the facility.

Due to the pump room's sprinkler system being set off, specialists out of Springfield, Illinois are now on-site to replace sprinkler heads and reset the system.

An official announcement regarding reopening of the facility will be made as soon as possible and will be sent to all local media, posted to the official Kroc Center - Quincy, Illinois Facebook page, and on its website at www.krocquincy.org.
