On Thursday evening the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum will continue their Music Under the Stars concert series with a performance from the Kansas City Streetband, a soul and R&B group started in 1977 in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Streetband performs cover songs and originals written by Glen "Bummer the Drummer" Ward, the group's founder. Their sound is described as "rock 'n' soul." The band has toured around the country, opened for several blues legends like Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, and the "Queen of the Blues" Koko Taylor.
Bummer the Drummer and The Kansas City Streetband brings to the stage the kind of intensity and showmanship that can only be attained by years of touring. They have released two compact discs and have a third set to be released sometime later this year." -kansascitystreetband.com
Music Under the Stars begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening, in front of the Boyhood Home. The Juneteenth Freedom Celebration will be selling pork steaks, baby back ribs and potato salad and Main Street Wine Stoppe will sell assorted drinks. There will be a drawing for a free Music Under the Stars t-shirt. Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs to the event.
