The 2013 Election to decide the next Mayor for the City of Quincy is underway.  The polls opened this morning at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. Incumbent Democratic Mayor John Spring, looking for a third term as Mayor, is being challenged by Third Ward Republican councilman Kyle Moore.

The only other contested citywide race pits incumbent Democratic Treasurer Peggy Crim against Republican challenger Tom Ernst. Three of the seven aldermanic races are also contested.

Today's election will also decide races for Quincy School Board, Quincy Park Board and the John Wood Community College Board of Trustees. The projected turnout for today's election is less than 50% of the registered voters which is an unfortunate total for such an important election.

Please go to the polls today and exercise your right as an American citizen and vote before 7 p.m.
