With the coming of the "dog days" of August comes the chance of a wet week in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

After a week that was mostly rain-free in the area, National Weather Service forecasters say there is anywhere from a 20 to 60 percent chance of rain through Saturday.

Chances Monday and Monday night stand at 40%. Predictions call for the best chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday, Wednesday night and Thursday.

Temperatures warmed up a bit over the weekend, and that trend continues through mid-week. Highs in the mid to upper 80s are expected Monday through Wednesday. Cooler weather moves in Thursday, with highs topping out in the low 80s through Saturday.

Lows for the week will hover around the mid 60s.
