So the Catholic Church has its new leader.  He is Jorge Bergoglio, the 76-year-old Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is the first Latin American to lead the Catholic Church. Bergoglio, who has taken the name Francis the First, is also the first Jesuit priest to become Pope.

I, for one, was hoping that the Catholic Church would go younger to the point that they would have a very active Pope. I am not sure that choosing someone who is 76 years of age will be as active as I would like for him to be. Putting a 76 year old man in charge of trying to revitalize the Catholic Church might just be a daunting challenge.

Hopefully Pope Francis the First will prove me wrong. Time will tell. What are your thoughts?
